Plex at one time, was the champion of the independent, home media-owner. Then they started adding newer features drifting away from home media-owners. More ad-driven. I got fed up with Plex; and began looking for Plex alternatives (and I’m a Lifetime Plex Pass member). That’s when I found Infuse Pro. I like Infuse a lot. More the way Plex USED TO BE. I’m very happy with Infuse. Technically, this is not a media “server”, but it does what i need it to do. It had no trouble finding my NAS. I can’t speak to Transcoding; I’m not techie enough, but if you just need to play a movie (DLNA; Direct Play) or a Playlist, Infuse works just fine. I use it to play rain sounds and fireplace videos i put in a folder on the NAS; that folder would play for 4 days uninterrupted if I wanted it to.
