I cannot tell you the amount of times that I have used this to figure out exactly what is going on with a piece of music. I am a firm believer that you should figure things out by ear. You will retain things better! Trust me! As a guitarist and guitar instructor, I have used this piece of software to figure out parts, rhythms, leads, chord changes, and countless other things.
