HBO Max had a great opening week this year, and while you're probably yawning right now because growth is par for the course in this arena, the numbers here are different!

Downloads of HBO Max across the App Store and Google Play climbed to 390K this Tuesday, according to our estimates. For context, that's about twice as many as the app sees on a normal day, and is the highest it's been since the app was (re)launched last year.
While revenue has been growing in a very healthy way for the streamer, downloads seem to be getting harder to come by. And it makes sense, there's so much content happening these days it's hard to get downloads away from TikTok, but once they download, it's up to HBO to convert those downloads to paying users with their content.
Like I said last week, this industry is still in land-grab territory. This is a clear reminder of that.
