Massive Growth! The Highest-Earning Mobile Games in December

Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2024? To start the year off right we crunched the numbers and ranked the highest-earning mobile games in December.

Games had a big holiday season and there's a lot of money to talk about, so let's dive right into the list!

King of Glory was the highest-earning mobile game in the world in December. Our estimates show the title earned $127M of net revenue from the App Store in China. Yes! A title that's only available in China and only on the App Store bested every other game!

And that's all net - what the publisher takes home after store fees.

Month-over-month revenue rose 14% while year-over-year revenue rose 65%.

Monopoly Go, November's winner, came in second with $117M of net revenue, according to our App Intelligence. Although not first, revenue did rise a modest 3% in December.

Royal Match, Peace Elite, and Roblox round out the top 5 highest earners for December. A similar list to November but without Candy Crush. The granny-favorite dipped to 6th place in December with $71M of estimated net revenue - a 6% increase from November.

League of Legends made its way into 7th place in December after a solid but not-good-enough performance in November. The title ended December with $53M of net revenue, according to our estimates. Most of that revenue came from the App Store.

Together, the top 10 highest-earning games brought in $767M of net revenue in December, according to our App Intelligence. Compared to November, we're looking at an impressive 11% increase thanks to the holiday season!

Revenue Grew 78% Year over Year

But wait, there's more! Out of curiosity, I compared December's revenue to the previous December (2022) to see how much games grew over the year.

The Mobile Revenue Index for games on the App Store ended December of 2023 at 329.94, an increase of 127 points in the US since December of 2022.

Money-wise, net revenue of the top 10 highest-earning games rose a whopping 78% year over year when compared to last December's $432M.

Google Play isn't growing nearly as much as the App Store, but looking at the numbers, the App Store is more than enough for game developers.
